Vespers on the Rocks
The Patrician Scion of the Ruling Family of Pasadena
Hollis Cavanaugh is 63, a wealthy socialite in Pasadena. He is silver haired, olive skinned and slender, with wire rimmed glasses and piercing gray eyes.
Hollis Cavanaugh is the current scion of the Cavanaugh Family, a wealthy clan whose founder, Liam Cavanaugh, was an Irish venture capitalist in the late 19th century. He founded Fleet Shipping Ltd, initially a cheap and effective freight company that later moved into the niche of shipping high-end, luxury goods and rare artifacts.
Hollis inherited the business after the retirement of his father, Graeme Cavanaugh, Liam’s grandson. Hollis has proved an effective, if cautious and conservative CEO who has not done much to expand the business but has largely kept it from any kind of ruin, even during the ’08 financial crisis.
He is also the Founder of the Cavanaugh Foundation which is involved in the negotiation and mediation of international cultural artifacts. It seeks to help developing nations have cultural artifacts stolen in the 19th and 20th centuries returned to them. It was instrumental in forcing the Getty to return hundreds of antiquities, acquired via the black market, to Greece in 2010.
Hollis Cavanaugh tries to have as small a public footprint as possible. He has been married twice, and divorced twice. He has two children, Thomas, aged thirty-eight, who is posed to inherit the company and Addie, aged thirty six, who is married to a New York socialite and has children of her own.
Hollis lives in a large suite at the Castle Green Hotel, a recent and rare property acquisition of the family.
Hollis, like the rest of his family have always ruled Pasadena since Liam first set up shop in 1892. Though the family members are all merely awakened, Fleet Shipping Ltd has provided them with access to thousands upon thousands of ancient and magical artifacts, many of which now lie securely in the Cavanaugh Family Reliquary Vaults somewhere within the Kingdom of Pasadena. The Artifacts are mostly used to protect the Family’s interests and maintain power, though with such secrecy it’s possible they might be up to any number of things.
Orli Braverman asked the party to receive a scepter that had gone missing “due to a miscommunication” in the Cavanaugh Family Vault. This is likely not something Hollis would approve of giving up.
